The UCLA-HHMI Pathways to Success Program is open to incoming first-year undergraduate students who intend to major in the life sciences with an interest in promoting cutting-edge scientific research and access to exceptional health care throughout a demographically varied population. Applicants of all backgrounds are encouraged to apply including students from varying socioeconomic backgrounds, students who are the first in their family to pursue higher education in the United States, and students with past involvement or interest in community health issues.
Program Requirements:
- A high school cumulative GPA of 3.8 or above
- At least four years of math and three years of science
- A maintained GPA of 3.0 or above (at least a “B” average) in science and math courses is strongly preferred
- An interest in the Life Sciences – Students who aspire to obtain a Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. are strongly encouraged to apply
To be considered for the program, all prospective students will need to:
- Complete an online application which includes: student information, a personal statement and short answer question(s), description of research experience, community involvement, and awards (if applicable), and a submission of an unofficial HS transcript.
- Participate in an interview, if selected.
